I've never read one of his books though. :)Josie-Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02433168852596727326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1705934261650966758.post-27420566858434328192010-06-04T10:44:40.571-07:002010-06-04T10:44:40.571-07:00I don't know anyone else who has read To Serve...I don't know anyone else who has read To Serve Them All my Days. I remember watching a TV adaptation of it as a child with John Duttine (I really liked him!). I've also read some other R F Delderfield books - the A Horseman Riding By series and The Dreaming Suburbs and An Avenue Goes to War.
Thanks for your kind comments about my cards - haven't quite achieved as much as I had hoped to this half-term but at least it's a start. Have a go with the handbag shape - it's good fun and a bit different. I get my card blanks from Craftwork Cards - they have beautiful products.
Take care. I'd totally forgotton about Jilly Cooper - I've got loads of her books from Emily, Harriet, Imogen etc to her more recent work, absolutely loved Riders, Rivals etc. Particularly liked the whole Rupert and Taggie relationship - and I'm totally not into horses either! I forgot about Atonement as well, beautiful story. It's so hard to narrow it down because I also forgot about Little Women, Pollyanna and Brideshead Revisited, not to mention To Serve Them All My Days, Anne of Green Gables, I Capture the Castle - I could go on an on! Thanks for joining it - it's fascinating to hear about other people's reading material. I'm like you - I get twitchy without a book on the go. Happy reading! I can sob my heart out with every one of the books. Hubby and I went to the cinema to see the film and I cried all the way through it :o( He asked why I was crying and then had to explain to him that Aslan was Christ, the Witch was the devil and the 4 children were the four apostles. I was devestated when they shaved off Aslans mane, nearly let out a sob lolMargarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17647912223394184509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1705934261650966758.post-49811395664004460022010-06-03T08:39:24.528-07:002010-06-03T08:39:24.528-07:00Well, well, well! Very interesting choice of books and like you I grew up on EB and the FF! But I also liked Arthur ramsomes book the swallows and Amazons. Gerald Durrell too, but as I was a boy! I would have to say I loved a good swash buckling yarn!
Moonfleet! Hornblower, all the good stuff boys own stuff! Sorry! This was your blog! oops!

But, if the truth were known, I did read some of Antonia Frasers books, and yes ok! I read The French Leutenants Woman! I was at sea and there was nothing else to read!cheyenne joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16957462106844413179noreply@blogger.com
